Another Note From Nana · August 26, 2008

This was written to me, Dana & Beth (David's sisters)

Hey Girls!  The Jib Jab video's were soooo funny.  We laughed so hard that Mei came running over with a big smile to see what was so funny.  She kept looking from the video back to us like what the heck is going on!  I love this little town.  It reminds me of old beach towns.  There are so many other families from the USA here.  We went to get Mei's medical stuff this morning and have come back to the room for her to rest.  Lots of shops for little girls.  We will look for fall and winter stuff and will only buy summer stuff if it is toooooo cute.  Maybe we will buy it in a size 3T for next spring if we can't resist it.  I have to tell y'all her personality with me.  I told you she says Nana like La La (which is funny because most Chinese don't say L's) but when she is really ticked off at me she growls and shakes her head (like no) and says La La, La La, and then when I stop whatever it was that set her off she gives me "the look".  It could be something as small as touching her shoe or trying to get her out of the stroller.  Most times she is ok if she can see Daddy, but I think she is reacting to her routine and what she was used to at the orphanage.  Like maybe I'm going to put her to bed or something.  She is getting better about sharing with me.  She gave me a cheerio at breakfast this morning but it is usually when she is through with something.  Like when she gets all the center scraped off of the oreo and she wants another one.........then Nana can have the cookie.  If I try to touch it before she is through she does the growl thing!!!  We stopped by Zhou's room and he has a bowl of fruit.  She got 2 bananas and came running back to me and handed them both to me.  I thought "oh how sweet of her to share them because she knows how much I like bananas" but she turned around and ran back for more fruit and when she had it all settled in the crook of her arm, she took her bananas back and looked at me and smiled.  If I really do something big (like ignore her tantrum and continue with what I need to do like washing sticky sucker off of her hands and neck) she does her La La thing and stomps her foot and slaps me.  We decided to let Lorie handle this when we get home!!  David is sending more video's.  I tried to film a lot of what went on at the check-up this morning.  I thought you (Lorie) would want to see them.  David is filming a few things while I write this.  I can't wait to see them myself.  The vendors are very low key here (thank goodness).  They don't chase you down the street and usually give us their business card and ask us to come back.  By the way, thanks for your prayers for the plane ride.  No problems with her ears at all.  Of course, the seat belt was another issue.  It was the first time she didn't get her way with Daddy and she did not like it one bit!!!  When we go out to eat her favorite word now is HOT!  It didn't take her long to catch on to that one.  Tell the boys and Uncle Will that she will give them a run for their money when it comes to eating spicy food.  I think she will love Kraft singles.  She scraped the cheese off of the meat at Mickey D's.  The cheese burgers are very different than ours.  They have pickles that are more like big slices of cucumbers and a spicy sauce on them, so we gave her some of the meat & bread & of course the cheese!  Better go now so David can download more videos and pics.  Love you all & miss you!  Nana
